UWC Day 2016 - Oslo
Most would agree that Norwegian culture is more than blondes in folk costumes and the infamous brown cheese, yet when asked to (re)present Norwegian culture at UWCs one easily falls back these tropes found in travel brochures.
19.00-21.00
Forstanderskapssalen, at Sentralen, Oslo.
Norwegian UWC students are usually prepared to discuss and promote equality, human rights, environmental responsibility and a range of other aspects important to Norwegian society, but what about Norwegian culture? UWC is an encounter between nations and cultures, and this is why we want to invite you to a discussion about what Norwegian culture is and who/whether Norwegian UWC students can and should present this at the different schools.
Our panellists are:
- Ida Erstad (social anthropologist, working on culture and family)
- Lars Laird Iversen (sociologist, working on religion, education and society)
- Balder Bryn Morsund (RNC-grad 2016)
- Espen Stedje (secretary general The Nordic Association)
- Ragnfrid Trohaug (author and editor for children’s books)
The discussion is led by Marie Nicolaisen
The event is open to everyone – bring a friend!
