Machi, 17 years old, is a second-year student from Japan. She arrived in August 2017 before the start of the school year to join the ELL Summer School to improve her English. And soon after, ELL turned out to be her real passion! Machi and her team developed a social entrepreneurship project to further support incoming ELL students which is piloted in this school year and so far has been a great success during the intro week. 

"I’m excited about coming year at UWC Maastricht because I’m passionate about organising and developing some projects that I'm involved in from last year, such as ELL project (English Language Learning support), EAG (Environment Action Group) and Dream Givers (fundraising and raising awareness for children in Laos to have education). Also, I’m excited to meet many students from all over the world and have a deep conversation about many different topics such as cultures, conflicts and sustainability which I could never experience in other schools."
