Tools for Changemakers
26-30 SEPTEMBER 2024
What difference can I make in a world where the challenges we face are as urgent as they are complex?
How can I better align my work and life with my values?
Learning how to affect positive change is essential to our survival as a species and to our happiness as individuals. This course will help you discover what agency you have, find common cause with others and learn to leverage the power, knowledge and wisdom we hold both as individuals and collectively.
Our team has developed this course around the UWC values of personal responsibility and integrity, respect for the environment, celebration of differences, personal challenge and a sense of idealism.
It consists of an intensive 4.5-day in-person workshop in Exeter followed by online guidance and engagement across two months on how to apply what we have learnt in our own communities.
By the end of the course you will have:
- A clear understanding of the strengths, experiences, skills and attitudes you and other participants bring to making the world a more just, sustainable, abundant and peaceful place.
- A positive road map for how to challenge the issues you see around you.
- Identified ways of bringing change to both your own life and your community.
- The practical and interpersonal skills to make these ideas a reality.
- The skills to build communities and create spaces for productive, equitable and inclusive exchange.
- Made lasting connections with other participants and the wider UWC movement.
This course is for you if:
- You see injustices and problems that you would like to address but are not quite sure where to start.
- You want to become clearer about your purpose and identify the values you want to strengthen in your life.
- You want to explore how to leverage your life experiences, skills, knowledge and influence to affect the change you want to see.
