Lori Sterling
Council Member - Chairperson of Pearson College UWC
Lori Sterling is an alumna of Pearson College UWC (1975-1977) and joined the Pearson College UWC Board in 2016.
Lori received the United Nations Public Service Award for Building Aboriginal Relations in 2013. She was named Top 100 Most Influential Powerful & Influential People in Government & Politics in Canada in 2018 and a nominee for top lawyer in Canada in 2014.
Lori served both the federal and provincial public service. Most recently, was Canada’s Deputy Minister of Labour. Previously, she has been the Deputy Minister of Indigenous Affairs for the province of Ontario. As well, she has held the position of Associate Deputy Minister of Justice for Canada. She has taught constitutional and labour law courses, and appeared in 15 cases before the Supreme Court of Canada.
In 2017, Lori earned her ICD designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors from the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto. In addition to UWC-related boards, she has served on the boards of the Public Service Management Insurance Plan, the Supreme Court of Canada Advocacy Institute, the Niagara Parks Commission and the Ryerson University Aboriginal Governance Institute.
