UWC 2030 strategy
Our current strategy, UWC 2030, was approved by the UWC International Board on 22 June 2024, after an 18-month process that brought together voices from across all UWC communities. This highly collaborative approach allowed us to reflect on the progress that we’ve made with the UWC 2018 and Beyond strategy, while looking ahead to the challenges and opportunities that await us as the world changes. Together, we have imagined the role that the UWC will play in shaping a more peaceful and sustainable future.
Over the past six years, we’ve taken the time to focus inward to deliver on three core priorities: to seek, to educate and to inspire. During this time, we’ve strengthened our national committees, restored trust, responsibility and autonomy in the student experience and reignited the passion within the UWC community to live out our mission.
Now, as we look towards 2030, we’re ready to take what we’ve built and use it to meet the global challenges of tomorrow.
The UWC 2030 strategy is bold and ambitious. We’re broadening our focus beyond just providing transformative education to our students. We’re aiming to become a truly global voice for values-based education, rooted in diversity, peace, sustainability and our commitment to offering needs-based financial assistance.
According to a recent UNESCO study on the top challenges peaceful societies will face by 2030, education-related solutions were ranked first for seven out of the 11 challenges and were among the top five for all of them.*

Seek, Educate, Connect and Amplify.
These four words guide us now. They reflect what matters most to our diverse UWC family: our unique national committee system, which enables us to select students from 157 countries and territories; our 18 schools and colleges spanning four continents; our 75,000+ alumni making an impact in every corner of the world; the invaluable partners and donors who make our work possible; and UWC International. Our new strategy also opens the door to even more partnerships and opportunities in education.
Our UWC 2030 strategy gives us a clear path forward. It sets out how we’ll achieve our goals and defines the roles of everyone involved. The UWC 2030 strategy does not offer a one-size-fits-all approach to the UWC mission and experience. Instead, we embrace the diversity within our movement and ensure that, while we each bring our own perspective, we remain united by our shared strategic direction and purpose. That’s why our schools, colleges and national committees have adapted these principles and objectives to fit their own national and cultural contexts.
We encourage every member of the UWC community - and anyone who shares our values - to explore the UWC 2030 strategy. By staying true to the mission and values that unite us, we can lead the way in educating for a more peaceful, sustainable future.
