Kate is the Deputy Executive Director at UWC International in London, responsible for ensuring operations of UWC International run smoothly. Prior to joining UWC in January 2014, Kate had worked in a number of international development organisations (INGO’s) in London. Kate’s roles developed from supporting young people’s informal educational programmes at Save the Children into empowering young people to call for change. She did this by supporting young people to speak at the UN regarding the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and at UK events which were attended by politicians. Kate moved on to a broader political campaigning role at WaterAid and then into a more specific communications role at Merlin which included leading on funding appeals and crisis communications. Kate’s last role at Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) saw her leading teams on advocacy, campaigning, media, digital and customer care.

Kate has spent a lot of time as a volunteer and supporting volunteers at both GirlGuidingUK and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (the largest organisation for girls and young women around the world). She has extensive experience of working globally with volunteers and leading delegations of volunteers including more than 90 adults and children for a jamboree in Russia with people from across the world.  Kate also developed an informal curriculum on rights and responsibilities as well as a peace building programme in Rwanda.
