Join us for an unforgettable 14-day sustainability and Spanish immersive experience at the UWC Costa Rica campus. With an exciting curriculum that combines sustainability with Spanish language lessons, offering participants a unique opportunity to explore the economic, environmental, and social dimensions of sustainability while enhancing their linguistic and cultural experiences in Costa Rica, the host country.
What to Expect?
- Sustainability & Impact: Explore environmental, social, and economic sustainability through hands-on projects, expert-led workshops, and real-world case studies.
- Spanish & Culture: Enhance your experience with Spanish lessons and cultural activities, or focus solely on sustainability—your choice! 2 curriculums available for those who are not interested in Spanish lessons.
- Experiential Learning: Visit eco-initiatives, conservation projects, and sustainable businesses to see sustainability in action.
- Global Connections: Collaborate with diverse participants, develop leadership skills, and build lifelong friendships.
- Nature & Adventure: Experience Costa Rica’s rich biodiversity through outdoor excursions and eco-adventures.

Application Requirements:
- Applicants should be between 14 and 17 years old at the time of the course.
- Applicants should demonstrate passion for environmental sustainability, climate action, or social impact through past projects, volunteer work, or studies.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Interest in collaborating with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
- Must have valid travel documents and comply with any visa requirements.
Course fee: 3,100 USD (includes accommodation, meals, activities, and excursions).
Participants are fully responsible for transportation costs between their home and the UWC Costa Rica campus.
Scholarships: UWC Costa Rica is committed to making its Sustainability Short Course accessible to students from diverse backgrounds by offering partial scholarships based on financial need, merit, and commitment to sustainability.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be considered for a scholarship that covers a percentage of the tuition fee, with the participant responsible for the remaining cost and travel expenses, applicants must:
- Demonstrate financial need through supporting documents.
- Show a strong commitment to sustainability, leadership, and community engagement.
- Be recommended by a National Committee (NC) or partner organisation (for NC-referred students).
