Ismat
Afghanistan, UWC ISAK Japan (2016-2019)
Ismat is a 19-year old student from Kabul, Afghanistan, currently in the second year of the IBDP at UWC ISAK Japan. Ismat is involved in various activities which contribute to his fulfilling UWC experience.
As founder of "E4E" (Education for Everyone), Ismat visits local schools in rural Afghanistan, interviewing teachers and administrators as part of a fundraising documentary. Ismat was motivated to found this initiative with other UWC students because it helps to fulfil a need he identified from growing up in this environment.
Ismat also serves as a UWC ISAK Student Ambassador, teaching students about UWC in school visits to Bamyan and Kabul outside of term time. He enjoys participating in UWC ISAK Japan's boxing club, and loves the people and culture of Japan and being surrounded by the incredible natural landscape of Karuizawa.
"I see UWC ISAK Japan as the best place for me to grow and learn in order to become a leader that can give back to society. I hope to finish the program strong and successfully enter a school that can help me achieve my life goals. Through my CAS, I hope to help the schools we have connected with in Afghanistan with not only financial resources but also educational know-how. As a UWC ISAK student ambassador, I hope to continue spreading the message of UWC as a force for positive change in education. Finally, I hope to help promote healthy lifestyles and introduce my schoolmates to boxing and martial arts."
