Explorer Alumnus Raises Awareness on Climate Change
Last year, Tim Jarvis (Australia, UWC South East Asia 1982-1984) - environmentalist, explorer, and founder of climate change advocacy organization 25zero - climbed one of the last glacial mountains in Uganda, Mount Stanley. Once, this mountain, which is the highest peak in Uganda and the third highest peak in Africa, was all covered in ice, but now the summit is little more than bare rock and pockets of remaining ice. Watch some amazing footage of the climb and listen to Tim speaking about climate change:

In 2013, Tim was named Adventurer of the Year 2013 in the Australian Geographic Society's annual awards, as a result of the epic re-enactment of Shackleton's 1916 Antarctic expedition he led to generate awareness of the importance of preserving Antarctica's environment.
