Umoja / Tanzania
19 June 2018 - 28 June 2018
Course Summary
The first UWC short course in Tanzania, Umoja is a 10 day program focused on bringing together young people from all over the world to explore the topic of 'Conflict'. Given the diverse history and background of the East Africa region, Tanzania provides the ideal backdrop for understanding the different forms of conflict in the world today. Focusing on the historical and cultural context provided by the region, the course is divided into three forms of conflict: Political, Cultural and Environmental.
The course will explore the three main topics through guest speakers, interactive workshops, community engagement and service activities, culminating in a final project that the participant will design using the knowledge and skills they acquired at the course. The course will equip participants to think critically, engage globally and become leaders in their own community. This short course will be an opportunity for participants to explore important issues in a productive way, enabling participants to engage critically long after the course has ended.
